With Ontario expected to remain in the grip of a heat wave for several more days, police will remain on the lookout for children and pets in locked cars.
York Region police say they received five reports of animals left in cars north of Toronto yesterday, leading to one pet owner being charged.
Police also had to rescue a dog baking in a car in downtown Ottawa yesterday afternoon.
Environment Canada says heat warnings in both southern and northern Ontario today won't let up until Thursday.
