A Chatham-Kent police officer was stabbed in the leg at an area hospital.

The officer was called to a Chatham-Kent hospital for a disturbance early Monday morning.

Police say a 25-year-old Lambton County resident waved a knife and cut the officer’s leg, which required medical attention.

The man was subdued, arrested and will be charged with assaulting a peace officer, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with intent to resist arrest.

He is being held in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

The injured officer is expected to make a full recovery. He was treated and released from hospital Monday morning.
