Couple devastated by theft

While the family involved does not want to be identified out of fear of reprisal, they tell CTV News the break and enter has been devastating.

"Everything was locked, windows, doors. They ripped a safe out of a wall...Who would do this to us? Why? And all that stuff, we worked so hard all our life, is gone."

Meloche says it's important to remember to be extra vigilant, especially as the holiday season begins.

"If you're going to go somewhere for a few days, call your neighbours, tell your neighbours. You can let the police know. It can happen anytime. Again be vigilant, make sure your doors are locked."
