It looks like Windsor-Tecumseh had a strong desire to keep the riding orange.
Cheryl Hardcastle won the riding. She has managed to edge long-time local politician Jo-Anne Gignac to become the next New Democrat MP.
Hardcastle had the support of labour, especially Unifor, who endorsed the NDP locally.
Political analyst Lydia Miljan had said that this was really a two-way race between Gignac and Hardcastle, but Hardcastle also defeats Liberal candidate Frank Schiller.
Hardcastle is a former journalist and editor for the Tecumseh Tribune and served a term as deputy mayor in the Town of Tecumseh. She also ran for mayor, but lost to Gary McNamara.
Hardcastle has promised to carry on the legacy that Joe Comartin left behind after retiring after 14 years.
