A motion to allow Detroit Bulk Storage to store piles of material along the Detroit River has been dismissed.

Detroit Bulk Storage went before the City of Detroit's board of zoning appeals this Tuesday afternoon. The company, which last year illegally stored large piles of petcoke, was seeking a waiver to store construction and aggregate materials just east of the Ambassador Bridge.

The board of zoning ruled DBS has no right to bring forth this motion to be appealed.

The company may now attempt to seek approval through the city's buildings and safety department.

City officials tell CTV News that as of Tuesday, paperwork has not been filed.
