Essex man arrested in connection to homicide in McGregor
Ontario Provincial Police have arrested an Essex man in connection to a recent homicide in McGregor.
Officers were called to an assault at a home on Scott Lane Saturday night around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday.
Police say a 49-year-old man was rushed to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.
“Unfortunately, that individual 49-year-old male was pronounced deceased at hospital and officers on scene immediately arrested a 27-year-old male,” says OPP Const. Steven Duguay.
Police have not released details on what exactly happened in the deadly incident.
“The injuries were significant to cause death,” says Duguay.
Investigators have said the suspect and victim knew each other and there is no threat to public safety.
Cody Froese, 27, has been charged with second degree murder and remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
“Investigators have canvassed the area,” says Duguay. “If you do live in that area, and you may have information that hasn't been forwarded to police or an investigator or a detective hasn't spoken to you yet, we asked you to do come forward and contact the Essex County Crime Unit.”
