Experts from around the world have gathered at the University of Windsor to discuss the latest developments in electric vehicle technology.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is hosting an international workshop on electrified vehicle components and systems Thursday and Friday.

"Recent advancements in electric powertrain and energy storage design has created a great deal of momentum in the field, making an organized collaborative discussion a necessity for the academic community," said Narayan Kar, a professor in the university's department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and one of the conference's key organizers.

The event is being held at the new Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation. Some of the speakers include Daniela Chrenko of the Institut Supérieur de l'Automobile et des Transports in France and Yi Zheng of Hebei University in China.
