Windsor police say a woman is in the intensive care unit in hospital, following a hit-and-run Saturday on Wyandotte Street East.
Officers responded to the call around 2 a.m. on Wyandotte near Moy Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed a woman lying on the roadway, being tended to by EMS.
Through their investigation, police say the victim was crossing Wyandotte, when she was struck by a vehicle. Officers say the vehicle then fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle is described by witnesses as a grey 2000 to 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, or a late model Chevrolet Cruise. Police believe the vehicle sustained damage to the front passenger side headlight, possibly even dislodging it from the socket. The driver of the vehicle is described as a white male with a shaved head wearing a grey shirt – possibly in his 20’s.
The 47-year-old female victim suffered a broken left ankle, broken right handed finger, dislocated left knee and left elbow. She remains in ICU in hospital.
