A Windsor hospital is ready to resume surgeries that had been delayed due to problems with three sterilizing machines.

Repairs to the equipment are now complete at Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus. A failed valve was replaced on a unit that supplies steam for sterilizing surgical instruments. The problem forced the operating rooms to close, postponing nearly eighty surgeries.

Two of the three autoclaves are back in service after tests were conducted. One machine is still down due to unrelated problems.

The hospital says it’s working with surgeons and patients to reschedule the surgeries.
