Friday marks day seven of a strike by Essex County Library workers.

Several workers gathered at the branch in Amherstburg Friday to join hands around the building.

Local 2974 Sub Unit Chair, Lori Wightman says the last week has been hard.

"We wanted to have an opportunity to get everybody all in one place so we could be a cohesive group and we're planning on giving our library a hug," says Wightman.

Wightman says the workers believe in what they're doing and adds "this is the last place we want to be. All of us, down to the very last person wants to be back doing their jobs, providing for this community and all of our communities. This is the last place we want to be."

Talks broke off between the union and employer on June 23rd and did not resume. No date has been set for talks to resume.

The 58 full and part time workers have been without a contract since April 1st.
