Reports of a natural gas odour throughout Windsor have been debunked by Union Gas officials.

Manager of external communications and media relations, Andrea Stass, told CTV News the odour is originating from Detroit and is garbage related.

Windsor Fire and Rescue received several calls from concerned citizens, who were getting a whiff of natural gas Monday evening. These calls were made as far east as Jefferson Road, to the downtown core and west Windsor.

Union Gas crews were dispatched to investigate the smell and concluded it wasn’t a natural gas odour, nor did it originate from the city.

Union Gas crews have since been recalled.
