Chatham-Kent police officers are aware of the ‘creepy clown’ hoax circulating across social media and are working towards ensuring it doesn’t impact the area.

Police say their youth officer is working very diligently with local school officials to ensure the safety of all students across our community.

At this time, there have been no official ‘clown sightings’ reported to our Chatham-Kent police and they are working towards getting sites removed by the students who posted them.

Windsor police say they have not had any sightings either and they are being proactive about making sure it stays that way.

Police would like to remind everyone that although it is not an offence to dress in this fashion, but  response will be dictated by your actions (uttering threats, being in possession of a weapon, mischief, cause disturbance, trespassing.)

Officers would also like to encourage all parents to ensure their child’s online behaviour is acceptable, respectful and legal.
