Fire officials say a possible electrical issue involving a real Christmas tree is the likely cause of a basement fire overnight in Kingsville.
Working smoke alarms are credited with alerting the occupants of the home to the fire; all were able to escape safely.
The fire occurred overnight in the 200 block of Main St. East between William Avenue and Santos Drive. The area was closed for a time while crews battled the fire.
Damage to the home is estimated to be between $75,000 and $100,000.
