Windsor police is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect that they say bilked an elderly woman of thousands of dollars.

According to police, on June 11 a man who identified himself to an 86-year-old woman as Mr. Phillips indicated he worked for a bank where she was a client. Police say the man informed the woman that he was working on a theft investigation at the bank and need her assistance.

The woman was told to withdraw $4,500 from her account and to attend the Budimir Library on Grand Maris Road West. When she arrived the woman was met by a man called Mr. Morris. Police say the woman turn the money over to the man as part of the investigation.

On June 13, the woman attended her bank to meet Mr. Phillips and be reimbursed, but when the bank informed her that no such man works at the location, she contacted police.

The suspect is described as a 50 to 55-year-old white male, standing 5’10” with a medium build. And short brown hair.  He was last seen leaving the library on foot.

Police say the caller new the victim’s name and where she banked.
