The Windsor police marine unit is gearing up for boating season, offering free safety inspections for boaters.

Police are continuing the marine outreach program for the fifth year in a row.

“Just to get familiarized with boating season again and getting awareness out for safety inspections and just getting everything set up for the season,” says Const. Henry Penner.

Members of the marine unit will be available at Lakeview Marina at 9200 Riverside Drive East for free safety equipment and vessel inspections between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on the weekends of May 10 and May 24.

Despite the warm temperatures this week, the official boating season is still two weeks away. By that time marinas will be extending their evening hours.
