A Chatham-Kent brewery is hoping to cash in on the busy Canada Day long weekend.

The Bayside Brewing Company is expecting it to be one of its most profitable weekends yet.

“We started brewing last July, so we're almost at our one year anniversary," says Colin Chrysler, brewmaster and self-proclaimed director of good times in Erieau.

As the microbrewery rounds its first anniversary in business, Chrysler reflects on the past year.

"We've had an incredible start to the year and it's been growing way faster than we ever anticipated,” says Chrysler. “We already doubled our capacity in the brewery and we're making more beer than we ever thought we would.”

Those grabbing their growlers say this beer hits the spot perfectly.

“Last summer we had a soft opening and we were just getting things up and running,” says Chrysler. “But this is our first big summer and first long weekend and we anticipate it to be one of the busiest weekends we've had yet."

That should be a safe bet. Beer sales soar during the Canada Day long weekend according to the official the beer store president.

“We'll sell a few million cases of beer across 440 stores in Ontario,” says Ted Moroz, president of The Beer Store. “Definitely the busiest week of the year for beer sales in Ontario."
