It lasted several hours, but a standoff was peacefully resolved when a man surrendered to Windsor police.

Officers received information about a female bleeding from the head in the 600 block of Pierre Avenue around 9 a.m.  A male was also seen in the area, but police say he fled inside a residence.

When police arrived the emergency services unit surrounded the house and informed the man via  speaker phone “you’re not going anywhere”.

Police say ESU was dispatched because it was unclear if a weapon was used in the alleged assault.

Contact with the man was eventually established and he was placed under arrest.

The woman was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She required several staples to close cuts to her back and head.

Charges have not yet been laid.

The investigation is ongoing.
