A postmortem examination is scheduled for Friday, after a body was pulled from the Detroit River Wednesday night.
According to Windsor police, officers walking along the riverfront, in the area of Hall Avenue and Riverside Drive, noticed a body in the water shortly after 6 p.m.
The Windsor Police Marine Unit was called in to recover the body, approximately 20 m from shore.
Windsor police have the riverfront park off limits to the public as they continue their investigation.
There was immediate speculation it might be a missing University of Windsor student.
Victoria Strehlau has been missing since Thanksgiving Day.
