A University of Windsor professor is one of about two-dozen people being invested into the Order of Ontario this year.

Hoda ElMaraghy is the director of the intelligent manufacturing systems at the university. She was the first female Dean of Engineering in Canada and also the first Canadian woman to obtain a PhD in mechanical engineering.

Her research on flexible manufacturing has helped manufacturers around the world adapt and respond to market changes.

The province announced Wednesday its list of honorees to be invested by Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell during a ceremony at the legislature next week.

Others on the list included Former cabinet minister and one-time CEO of TV Ontario Isabel Bassett , Justice Stephen Goudge, Shaw Festival artistic director Jackie Maxwell and world-renowned concert pianist and composer Anton Kuerti.

Comedian and writer Rick Green, who has become an advocate for those living with ADHD, was invested into the Order of Ontario in 2014 but will pick up his award at next week's ceremony.
