The 2013 Bike the Bridge event has been cancelled.
Organizers posted the cancellation news on their website, saying it is “due to circumstances beyond our control. The International Bridge Company was unable to provide a date to cross the bridge due to security concerns.”
The post said they look forward to 2014.
The annual cycling event is the only day of the year the Ambassador Bridge allows pedestrians of any kind and the only time cyclists can physically ride between countries in the area.
The two cities swap hosting duties each year. Detroit hosted in the inaugural year of 2009 and was scheduled to host again this year.
