The Windsor University Faculty Association is pleased, but a little perplexed after administration deferred the deadline to reach an agreement.
University of Windsor president Alan Wildeman sent out an email to faculty Monday afternoon, stating a deadline of 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, is being pushed back to an indefinite date and time.
This comes just before WUFA held a late afternoon closed-door membership meeting. Both sides are expected to meet at the bargaining table Tuesday morning with Ministry of Labour mediators.
The university had been threatening to stop paying health care premiums and making pension contributions, as well as collecting union dues.
WUFA does not have a strike mandate and doesn't currently have any plans to hold a strike vote.
Association president Anne Forrest is hopeful an agreement can be reached soon and says the president's letter is a positive sign.
WUFA plans to hold a rally outside of Chrysler Tower at the university at noon Tuesday.
