Officials in LaSalle have changed a proposal to deal with flooding issues in two neighbourhoods.
The town’s administration has been looking into a flooding issue after about a dozen homes reported flooded basements from the run-off of a storm in the summer of 2015.
Residents in the Heritage Estates and Oliver Farms subdivisions have been asked to provide feedback on a proposed pond and storm system improvements.
The third in a series of public meetings was held Thursday night.
Staff are now suggesting they reduce the size of the proposed pond in Heritage Estates, to limit the impact on a nearby park. It would also mean the Oliver Farms subdivision would deal with storm water on its own.
Director of Public Works Peter Marra says this new plan would allow the work to be phased in over time.
“We're looking to get comments from tonight's public meeting by January 20th and then we'll finalize the report for about April or so” says Marra. “That will be presented to council and that would be on another review timeline about 30 to 45 days after that.”
