The first plug-in hybrid version of the Pacifica minivan has rolled off the line at the Windsor Assembly Plant.

The hybrid is the first electric vehicle to be built at the Windsor minivan plant, marking a milestone for the factory and its 5,900 workers.

The new vehicle has a 50-kilometre, or about a 30-mile range, on electric power.

FCA executives say most mini-van drivers average that distance daily, meaning hybrid drivers will be able complete trips solely on electric power.
