A 54-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident involving an elderly woman in east Windsor.
Windsor police were called to 955 Reedmere Road at roughly 4:30 a.m. on Thursday.
The man was reportedly found inside the residence and was arrested after a brief struggle, although police say he does not live at the address.
Police say Damian Hawley is the son of the injured woman.
In addition to the attempted murder charge, he is also facing counts including: aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
The 85-year-old female victim underwent surgery Thursday morning. She remains in hospital in intensive care and listed in serious condition.
Hawley remains in police custody.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and a search warrant is being applied for, after which it is expected that the weapon will be recovered.
