Fatal crash involving motorcycle in Leamington

One person has died after a crash near Leamington involving a sole motorcycle.

First responders were called to the scene Wednesday night in the area of Mersea Road 2 and Mersea Road 19.

Police say the motorcyclist left the road and struck a guardrail.

According to police, the 28-year-old motorcyclist from Leamington was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Mersea Road 2 was closed to facilitate the investigation. It reopened at 8:15 p.m.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team attended the scene and are assisting Essex County OPP with the investigation.

Correction

OPP originally released that the collision involved a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle, but has issued a correction stating the collision involved a lone motorcyclist, not two vehicles.
