The Lakeshore Horse Racing Association is getting $64,000 from the Ontario government to hold four races at the Leamington Racetrack.

The money is for transition assistance.

“I’m pleased that Lakeshore Horse Racing Association is ready to begin racing this fall in Leamington,” says Windsor West MPP Teresa Piruzza. “A viable and sustainable horse racing industry is important to Ontario and Windsor-Essex.”

The four race cards will be at the Leamington Fairgrounds Sept. 22, Sept. 29, Oct. 6 and Oct. 13. Post time for each date is 1 p.m.

“We are pleased that we are able to work with the provincial government in creating and maintaining jobs in the local horse racing and agricultural industry,” says LHRA director and Essex County warden Tom Bain.
