Former workers from a closed Windsor parts plant and laid off Chrysler workers near Toronto have first dibs for positions opening at the Windsor Assembly Plant.

Dino Chiodo, CAW Local 444 president, says workers from Martinrea Fabco and Chrysler workers from Brampton and Mississauga can apply for 28 jobs opening at the mini-van plant.

Chiodo says hiring will be based on seniority.

The openings were created through attrition and retirements.

Martinrea Fabco made twist axles for the minivan before closing its doors in 2010, eliminating 75 positions.
