Detroit police officers have been given permission to show some Lions pride while in uniform, with Chief Todd A. Bettison authorizing them to wear Detroit Lions hats while on duty.

The move allows officers to don a Detroit Lions skullcap or ballcap as part of their uniform, a gesture of support for the team during their historic playoff run.

In a post to social media, the Detroit Police Department celebrated the team’s achievements, stating, "Congratulations to the Lions on their historic season! Go Lions!"

The Lions finished the NFL regular season with a 15-2 record, earning the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs and a bye in the wild-card round.

They’re set to return to action next weekend in the Divisional Round of the 2024-25 NFL playoffs.

Meanwhile, star quarterback Jared Goff made an appearance Thursday night at a Detroit Auto Show event hosted by Ford Motor Company.

Goff, taking advantage of the team’s week off, shared how he’s spending his downtime.

“Just hang out, get a little rest, enjoy some of these beautiful cars,” Goff said, adding, “I’m taking a lot of naps right now and getting ready for next weekend.”

Who the Lions face in the divisional round will be determined on the result of this weekend’s wild card games.

As the top seed in the NFC playoffs, the Lions will play every NFC postseason game they are in at Ford Field in Detroit, through the NFC championship game.
