It was an emotional victory for the General Amherst football team.
The players had a lot more on their minds after losing one of their own less than a week ago.
The Amherstburg Bulldogs beat Lajeunesse 30-15 to win the Arnott Conference title.
Carrying the number 37, the Bulldogs walked into their first game without Mike Matte. The 17-year-old died on Saturday. He was found inside this garage, killed by carbon monoxide fumes.
“Mikey was a really special guy, he touched a lot of people and he meant a lot to the team,” says Joel Charron, Bulldog’s assistant coach. “He wasn't a star player by any means but he was the glue of this team.”
