The fatal fire on Rankin Avenue is not suspicious, according to an investigator from the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office.
Windsor fire officials say a 19-year-old male University of Windsor student died after the blaze at 227 Rankin Ave.
Sources tell CTV News the victim is Andrew Kraayenbrink from Wallaceburg.
The OFM says the fire broke out on the main level of the home around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Neighbours say the home was fully engulfed and flames were shooting out from all around it.
Five other people were taken to hospital with smoke inhalation, and they were treated and released from hospital on Wednesday.
Windsor Police, Fire and OFM officials were all on site again on Thursday, combing through every last bit of debris inside the home.
OFM Investigation Co-ordinator Rick Derstroff confirms two smoke detectors were located inside the home, one in the basement and the other in the basement stairwell. He adds both alarms were working when the fire broke out, and they are checking to see if other levels of the home had working smoke alarms.
Derstroff says the investigation on site could last at least another couple of days, but it will take weeks to get the test results from the evidence.
This is the 76th fire related fatality in Ontario so far this year.
