Shots fired in Walpole Island confrontation, two men charged: OPP

Two people are facing charges as the result of an incident on Walpole Island First Nation.

On December 19, at approximately 5:00 p.m., police say they responded to reports of gunfire during an altercation at a River Road address.

Two people were taken into custody, and luckily no injuries were reported.

As a result, a 29-year-old man and 35-year-old man – both of Walpole Island First Nation – were charged.

The 29-year-old faces charges of possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purposes of trafficking, and the 35-year-old faces charges including careless use of a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, and possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Both remain in custody.
