One person has been airlifted to hospital, following a serious crash involving a cyclist in Chatham-Kent.

Chatham-Kent police responded to Park Avenue, just east of Creek Road on Thursday, around 6 a.m. for a report of a collision. When officers arrived they found a male cyclist lying on the gravel shoulder of the road.

The man was transported to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for treatment, but has since been airlifted to a Windsor hospital. Officials tell CTV Windsor that the 52-year-old is listed in critical condition and is undergoing surgery.

Park Avenue is expected to remain closed for several hours, while traffic investigators probe the scene.
