A downtown Windsor restaurant has been ordered closed due to a cockroach infestation, according to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.

Both Chanoso’s and South Detriot have been shut down after the health unit deemed the kitchen not safe to serve food.

Health unit officials say the restaurants share a kitchen, which has had cockroach problems in the past.

“The order is to remain in effect until the premise is re-inspected and the health inspector is satisfied that the provisions of the order have been carried out,” says health unit spokesperson Mike Janisse.

The building is located at 255 Ouellette Avenue.
