A 22-year-old suspect was stabbed and arrested in hospital after an alleged break-in Tuesday night.

Windsor police were called to a home in the 2600 block of Meldrum Road around 9 p.m.

Officers say as many as four males had kicked in the rear door of the house and that one of the suspects may have been stabbed.

Police spoke with three occupants at the house. The occupants were downstairs when they heard a loud bang noise from the rear door. One of them grabbed a knife as two suspects came down the back stairwell.

Police say an altercation resulted in the occupant with the knife stabbing one of the suspects in the abdomen. All four suspects fled the area.

Windsor hospitals were alerted regarding the incident. At about 9:10 p.m., police received a call from Windsor Regional Hospital Met Campus about a man who had just attended the ER suffering from a stab wound to his stomach.

The 30-year-old occupant was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

The 22-year-old was arrested at hospital for break and enter. He suffered a lacerated liver and remains in hospital under observation.
