A 54-year-old Aurora man was arrested for impaired driving while on his way to a Chatham court to face other drunk driving charges.

OPP stopped the vehicle for alleged erratic driving on Highway 401 in the westbound lanes near Iona Road in the Township of Southwold around 10:15 a.m. on Friday.

The officer says the erratic vehicle almost collided with another vehicle. He was stopped without incident, but police say the driver was found impaired.

The investigation revealed the driver was on his way to court in Chatham for a previous impaired driving charge and over 80 milligrams charge, laid by Chatham OPP in April.

The driver was also found to be suspended from driving under an administrative drivers licence suspension as a result of the previous charges.

Kin-Ping Ma, 54, was charged with impaired driving, operating a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of blood alcohol and driving while under suspension.

His vehicle was impounded for seven days and he was held for a show cause bail hearing held on July 6.

He is to appear in St.Thomas criminal court on July 23.
