A high-tech medical device manufacturing company announced Monday, they will be setting up shop in the Town of Amherstburg.
Dynament Corporation plans to be operational and manufacturing electro-surgical devices in the town by the end of 2013. The company will create 25 to 30 jobs once the facility is in full production, with an additional 10 to 20 jobs within the second year of operation.
Company President and CEO Steve Livneh says what attracted Dynament to the area, was the towns vicinity to the United States.
“We have focused on Amherstburg due to its vicinity to the Canada-U.S. border, reasonable tax base, offering fair cost of living and for being an exemplary safe community,” says Livneh.
According to Sandra Pupatello, CEO of the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation, Dynament plans to lease the property at 99 Thomas Rd. from the Town of Amhersburg. The property once housed sodium chlorate plant, Nexen Chemicals, until it closed in 2005. The property has since been vacant.
“This investment fits in very well with the expertise in precision manufacturing and furthers our intentions to diversify the Windsor-Essex economy with additional areas of manufacturing,” says Pupatello. “This is an important industry and we are actively taking steps to strengthen the life sciences sector in the region.”
Dynament has operations in Michigan and China.
