Chatham-Kent police are crediting a family dog for helping to stop a physical altercation between a woman and her husband.
Police say a verbal argument began between the couple Wednesday. The argument became physical when the man began assaulting the woman.
Police then say the family dog jumped on the man and the woman was able to escape and call police.
A 42-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault.
