Nine newly hired police officers were introduced by the Windsor police force on Thursday.

The officers were welcomed at a Windsor Police Services board meeting, but they are not new to policing.

Chief, Al Frederick says after a number of retirements announced very quickly, the organization decided to hire experienced officers rather than train new cadets.

The nine officers are from southwestern Ontario and come with anywhere between four years to 15 years of experience.

Frederick says hiring new experienced officers adds value to Windsor police organization right away.
