A tentative deal between the University of Windsor and its janitors, maintenance, and kitchen staff was ratified by a vote of 94% for those in favour.

The deal between CUPE Local 1001 and the University comes as the current contract was set to expire at the end of the month.

Local Vice President Mika Vasic tells AM800 the deal runs for the next six years, "My thought on the ratification vote is that our members are happy with what was negotiated. We believe that it’s a fair contract to six years long, so it's peace of mind for those six years a least they'll know they'll still be here at the University."

No further details of the deal have been released. The union represents about 300 workers at the University.
