A tanker truck carrying liquid fertilizer was overturned Saturday morning, forcing the closure of Essex County Road 27 from Highway 3 to McCain Sideroad in Kingsville.
OPP were called to the scene just after 9 a.m.
The truck was travelling southbound on Essex County Road 27 around a curve in the road when the liquid load of the tanker shifted, causing it to strike a hydro pole and rollover into the ditch. The truck sustained extensive damage.
The Chatham man driving the truck was able to crawl out. He was taken to hospital with non-life theatening injuries.
The liquid fertilizer spilled into the surrounding ditch, but has been contained to approximately 10 metres on either side of the tanker, OPP said. Kingsville Fire Services was on hand as a precaution.
The lone occupant of the tanker truck had non-life threatening injuries and has been taken to Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital for treatment.
The county road is expected to stay closed for about three hours for cleanup.
The investigation continues.
