Six people have been forced from their home after a fire early Tuesday at an multi-unit residence.

Emergency crews were called to 834 Assumption Ave. about 3 a.m.

Fire officials say the blaze started in the basement boiler room.

Union Gas and the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) were on the scene investigating

The TSSA regulates fuel and is looking at the boiler.

The building contains four apartment units and six occupants of the building are being assisted by the Red Cross.

Fire officials say the blaze is not considered suspicious at this time, but  neighbours are concerned considering there was a fire next door to this building last month.

The investigation continues.
