Amherstburg fire investigators report rags used to stain a house under construction caused $500,000 damage.
Crews responded to a house in the 700 block of front road Thursday morning.
The fire was contained to the living room - and was out by the time fire fighters arrived.
However, officials say the rags were improperly placed in a plastic container when they began to heat up, causing soot and smoke damage in the nearly finished home.
