The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society hosted a special visitor today.
Laureen Harper, the wife of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, toured the shelter and visited with some of the staff and animals.
“Thanks to the staff and volunteers for hosting MP Jeff Watson and I today for a visit and thank you for all that you do for the animals of Windsor!” Harper posted on her Facebook page after the visit.
Humane society executive director Melanie Coulter says it was an honour to have her visit and it was nice to talk to her.
Part of the expansion for the humane society came from the federal infrastructure stimulus plan.
Laureen Harper also met with business students at the University of Windsor.
