Windsor police is appealing to the public for witnesses to a Wednesday crash that sent a 16-year-old girl to hospital in serious condition.

Officers were called to Riverside Drive East at Langlois Avenue, around 4:15 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian being struck. A 15-year-old was treated by EMS at the scene, but was transported to hospital. She is now in the Intensive Care Unit.

Police say their investigation revealed that the victim was struck while crossing Riverside Drive by a westbound Ford Focus. Officers have already spoken with several witnesses, including the driver of the Focus.

However, investigators are looking to speak with the passenger of a dark coloured vehicle that was travelling behind the Focus at the time of the collision. The occupants provided assistance at the scene, but left before police arrived.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
