Hundreds of supporters attended a rally in Essex with NDP Leader Tom Mulcair.

It was Mulcair's last stop of the day.

He took part in a rally at the London Convention Centre and he made campaign stops in Waterloo, Brantford and Stratford and Sarnia on Sunday.

He spoke for about 10 minutes in Essex. He says he met more Canadians in their communities today than Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau.

The NDP candidate for Essex is Tracey Ramsey. Jeff Watson is the conservative candidate and Audrey Festeryga is the Liberal candidate.

Mulcair says "Jeff Watson comes here to tell you what Ottawa needs. Tracey will go to Ottawa and tell them what you need."

In his earlier stops, Mulcair focussed on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

"Mr. Harper has his gang in Atlanta trying to negotiate away your family farm, negotiate away your good paying factory job in the auto sector," says Mulcair.

"When we form government on October 19, we’ll not be bound by this secret agreement that Mr. Harper has been negotiating. We’ll stand up for you and your families."

In Stratford he appealed to farmers.

"Did you know here in Perth alone there are 350 dairy farms? We will fight for Canadian families," says Mulcair.

In London, he promised to lift families out of poverty and reduce the Old Age Security pension from 67 to 65.
