The local Chamber of Commerce wrapped up what it's calling a successful annual general meeting of chambers from across the province.

The Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce (WERCC) says there was provincial support for some key issues for this region, including petitioning the federal government to defer the Trans-Pacific Partnership until after the U.S. federal election.

WERCC says deferring the TPP until after the November election in the U.S. would ensure more flexibility.

Other key local issues that received support included closing the skills gap, encouraging the use of domestic steel for federal and provincial government projects, transparency for development charges and $30 million for the Connecting Link Program.

The Connecting Link Program didn't include any allocation for Windsor-Essex.

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce AGM was held from Thursday to Sunday in Oakville.
