A tentative agreement has been reached between Caesars Windsor and its workers.

According to Unifor Local 444 – the union representing 2,300 service staff – a tentative agreement was reached in the early Friday morning. The strike deadline was at 12:01 a.m.

It took 40 hours of bargaining, but the union says the agreement contains a wage increase and improved benefits. Exact specifics were not released.

In anticipation of a potential strike Caesars locked the doors to the casino Thursday evening, and cleared out the gaming floor. Hotel guests were also informed they had to be out of their rooms by 10 p.m. However Caesars Windsor confirms the casino will reopen at 9 a.m.

Local president Dino Chiodo told the media Thursday afternoon that he was cautiously optimistic a deal could be reach.

Chiodo says a number of workplace issues were resolved.
