Four men have been charged with assault and break and enter related to the theft of a dog in Tilbury.

Chatham-Kent police say the four men went to a home on Queen Street to speak with a man regarding the theft of a dog that occurred nine months ago.

As the man answered the door, police say he was grabbed and forced into a vehicle. He was allegedly driven to a nearby parking lot and assaulted.

The men let him go and continued to a residence on Canal Street. Officers say they forced their way into a residence and assaulted a man inside the home with a beer bottle.

Police say the men went back to the Queen Street address and entered, assaulted and threatened four different men.

Around 2:00 a.m., all four men were found and taken into custody in the Canal Street and Queen Street area.

None of the victims required medical attention.

A 28-year-old Tecumseh man, 28-year-old man of no fixed address, 26-year-old Comber man and 33-year-old Windsor man have all been charged with multiple offences including break and enter, forcible confinement, assault and uttering threats.

They have all been held pending a bail hearing.
