Sentencing has been delayed for a former doctor for the Windsor Spitfires.
Dr. Colin Sinclair is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 8. The court heard submissions in the hearing Friday morning.
"Dr. Sinclair stays at home and essentially, has nothing to look forward to,” defence lawyer Dan Scott told the court.
Scott is asking for a conditional sentence of two years less a day, plus 240 hours of community service.
In September, Sinclair was convicted on five counts of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking and 87 fraud charges.
Crown prosecuter David Foulds asked for three to five years for the fraud-related charges and then federal prosecutor Rickard Pollock asked for six to eight years for the drug charges. The sentences would be consecutive, which would be nine to 13 years total.
During the trial Sinclair acknowledged the crimes, but pleaded not guilty saying he was suffering from depression.
Sinclair was arrested in 2008, when police seized nearly $1 million in cash and prescription drugs.
