The Windsor University Faculty Association (WUFA) has set a deadline of midnight on Oct. 1 to reach a settlement with the administration.

After that, WUFA says faculty will go on strike until they can reach a settlement with the university.

No talks are currently scheduled between the two sides, but the association would like to see a return to bargaining.

Administrators and WUFA met with a provincial mediator on Tuesday, but no details are being released as a media blackout is in place.

A strike would see about 1,000 faculty members walk off the job.

The association has already held a one-day and a half-day walkout.
